    alt currency exchange rates

    any speculation on what these might be.

    wth I just checked some of the current prices and current values don't make sense.

    Compare just Olthoi North, to Colosseum:

    Tome = 10 at both...suggests a 1:1 ratio
    upgrade kit = 10 at Olthoi, = 5 at colo...suggests a 2:1 ratio
    salvaged pyreal = 12 at Olthoi, = 6 at colo...again suggests 2:1
    MFK item = 10 at olthoi, 5 at colo...again 2:1
    tunic = 10 at Olthoi, = 25 at Colo...suggests 2:5 ratio?

    So I suppose if you only compare the exactly equivalent items, then you'll need 2 venom sacs to 1 colo coin. That is if there is no penalty for exchange rate. That already seems backwards, since you can get colo coins much faster than sacs. Although you can solo sacs easier.

    I can't figure out what the basis was for the pricing. many items are equivalent but the ratios are inconsistent. It's hard to say whether it's based on how quickly you can get them and whether it's solo/group only.

    • Sacs = Rare, maybe 2 per hour grinding solo. Otherwise casino chest only.
    • Mhoire = Common, upwards of 15 per hour grouped, plus daily side quests, plus loot items
    • Gear = Rare, maybe 2~3 per hour grinding solo, some side quests
    • Colo= Uncommon, max 6 per hour grouped. The uncommon part lately is getting a group willing to go. Otherwise casino chest only

    Even though sacs are kind of hard to get, you can set yourself up and macro somewhere and have to create a "venom sac mule" to hold them all. Step 2 buy FP bags. Step 3 Profit.

    With GY Colo, side quests, and the occasional monster loot drop you can quickly get enough to buy all the vendor items you can use. Since there's no FP here, you can't make much of a business farming this.

    Gearknight is Gearknight, so you can learn to dodge lightning wars and grind out there as long as you can stand. I don't know how well macros work out there, but I see enough GK shields running around. (No, not implying any of them UCMed those).

    Colosseum coins may be the hardest to get solo. You definitely need at least a small group to get through far enough to start winning coins, let alone winning. If you can get in with a regular group, great - you're set. Besides the casino chest there is no other place to get them solo. I doubt there are many players with coin stacks in the triple digits. Items are price very high.

    I'm laying this all out to suggest that finding a good exchange rate between all currencies will be difficult and probably open for exploitation. Since it's possible to amass one kind of currency to then exchange for another, the devs will protect against that by setting the rate extremely high, like 10:1 or higher. Then again by adjusting the pricing, either by evening them all out or by basing them on 'farm per-hour' rates, it will be worthwhile to hunt them directly instead of exchanging.

    Mhoire coins are certainly the easiest to get, simply because there are so many ways to get them -- solo quests, group quests, and creature drops in a reasonably large hunting area. If you ignore those quests, they'd still be slightly easier to get than venom sacs just because you have a bigger hunting area for drops.

    Colo is hardest because it requires a group and that's the only way to get them. That said, I have more colo coins than venom sacs.

    Venom sacs and Gear Markers are easy because you can get them solo, but hard because that's the only way to get them and they have fairly low drop rates.

    We wouldn't need the currency exchanger if they added more quests/hunting areas for the other currencies.

    Picking a fair exchange rate is hard because everyone has a different idea of which are more valuable.

    I'd just keep it simple -- 2 of one currency buys you 1 of another. (Perhaps 3:1 for mhoire coins, until the other areas get more quests). No need for an exchanger, the alt currency vendors just sell the other currency. It is still preferable to get the currency you need directly from the available quests/hunting (due to the exchange rate), but if you absolutely hate one particular area you can still get the currency.

    I guess I need to craw out from the rock I've been living under and look up the solo Mhoire quests. I'm still at 5 coins and four of them were from gift boxes! My current rate of obtaining them would have me finally obtaining my soul bound weapon in ~2013.

    Thanks for the list, it helps give some perspective.

    Really don't need to do solo quests. Just do Lord M with a good fellow. It is a good way to stock up on Mhoire Coins. You can do lord R as well.

    I will look for you and invite you along next time we do Lord M. You can have 20-25 coins after just a few runs.

    I do agree however that the Colo Coins need to be the most expensive. They have the gems that people can use to level their characters. They also have the upgrade kits to the rings. They are the hardest to get because there is only 3 ways to get them.

    1. Do colo run and get to a room that gives you coins.
    2. Trade in a colo ring (but you have to win Colo to get that unless someone wins and gives it to you)
    3. Mana Rings
