    LOTRO:Having trouble creating new account

I wanted to try the free trial on LOTRO, and apparently, if you already have a Turbine account, you have to contact support to add it to your existing account.'

So, not wanting the hassle, I tried to create a new Turbine account, and it won't let me. I type in my name (the same name as the existing Turbine account), and my email; and it's telling me my email address is invalid

I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with this, and how you solved it

Re: LOTRO:Having trouble creating new account

I sort of did with DDO last year, for some reason I couldn't tie an existing AC account to DDO but I didn't have problems with email.

Re: LOTRO:Having trouble creating new account

    Thanks for the reply

We did have a bit of trouble with DDO (going from AC to DDO) but resolved it quickly.

I'm specifically interested in how existing Turbine account holders can create a new account to play the LOTRO free trial

Apparently, we can contact LOTRO support, and get the free trial added to our existing account, but it's going to take at least 2 business days, and my boyfriend and I wanted to play together

He started his free trial a few days ago

He also used his name/email from our other existing Turbine account, to create a new one...and he had no problems. It's just mine that's the problem

It's a real shame they have to make this so difficult

I went to the main Turbine site, logged in to my account, in hopes they had an easy way to start the free trial....nope

Re: LOTRO:Having trouble creating new account

I had signed up for the free trial of LOTRO before coming back to AC the last time.....just had that AC-itch that I was hoping a hobbit could scratch.

Signed up for the 10 day free trial, THEN got the link to download the client..... all 6 GB of it!! By the time I finally had gotten the client downloaded, my 10-day trial was up!! Disappointed, for sure; not by the fact that my trial was up but that they would include download time for such a huge installer to count towards your trial time which is short enough already.

So I had to sign up for another ten-day trial. Logged in. Ran around (mostly into things, since the performance was HORRIBLE) and gave it a good few hours. Logged out at the end of that night and never logged back in. Promptly resubbed my AC account and have been here ever since!!

So basically, the LOTRO trial made a customer out of me again, but not for the title that they had anticipated! We should all make free trials in LOTRO and start advertising AC (isn't LOTRO F2P now? no more need for free trials!)

Who wants to head the LOTRO-to-AC advertising team? Anyone? Anyone? Just one post in CG and you've effectively done more advertising for AC than Microsoft and Turbine have done collectively in 11 years!!

Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.
