November, 2007: Children of the Prodigal Lord

Welcome to the Release notes for the November event, Children of the Prodigal Lord. Let's see what is new and exciting this month in the world of Asheron's Call.

Children of the Prodigal Lord
A cold wind blew from the north into Ayan Baqur, bringing the chill of winter even to this desert town. Crouched by the side of the Smoking Axe Tavern in an effort to keep warm, Ulgrim the Unpleasant shivered and mournfully tapped his empty mug against the ground.

Sabithra crept down the stairs as stealthily as she could. She used the toe-first step that had been one of the most basic techniques that Master taught her, and kept close to the stone wall to minimize the chance of a creaky floorboard giving her away. All in all, she used a dozen tricks and techniques to mask her presence from the man she was sneaking up on.

Ardry reclined on his bedroll by the fire, sipping from a mug of tea. He sighed contentedly and looked up to count the stars of Dereth's night sky. They'd established this camp on one of the high ridges outside the town of Al Jalima

The messenger clicked his heels together and bowed quickly. "Undead unrest in Al Jalima, General." He pffered up his message scroll. "My thanks, soldier," Tharnoch muttered as he took the scroll.

September, 2007: Dark Materials

Release Notes
Hello there and welcome to the September Release notes. There are many changes coming to Dereth this month. Strange activity on the Singularity Caul, Strange activity in the Harbinger tunnels and other odd behaviors point to something big looming on the horizon. Let's see what else is happening in Dereth this month.

Dark Materials
Ardy crouched in the wide stone hallway, trying to ignore the chill in his bones. He'd found this portal, strangely unguarded and unwarded, in the middle of Singularity Caul after the Council of Sages had asked him to investigate rumors of Elemental activity in the area.

In a mist-shrouded valley between the Obsidian Plains and the Inner Sea of Dereth sat the ruins of an ancient graveyard. Shambling undead and corruption-tainted rats lurked in the cold recesses of the crypts.

August, 2007: Corrupted Sovereigns

Release Notes
Hello there and welcome to the Release Notes for the August Event, Corrupted Sovereigns. Dereth is once again on the cusp of something big occurring. The Olthoi in the north have undergone some odd changes, and there have been reports of more strangeness surrounding Bobo. Let's see what else is going on this month in Dereth.

Corrupted Sovereigns
In the warm, smoky tavern of the bustling Aluvian town of Arwic, a man approaching middle age sat alone at a table by the fire. His wide shoulders and bulky arms marked him as a warrior. His alert eyes and wary posture, even as he nursed a mug of beer, marked him as a sensibly paranoid man in a time when strange disruptions were occurring all over Dereth.

July, 2007: Intelligent Designs

Hello there and welcome to the Release Notes for the July event, Intelligent Designs! The strange activities around Dereth continue as the citizens try to figure out the reasons why this behavior is becoming more and more directed. Let's see what else is going on in Asheron's Call this month!

Intelligent Designs
Adso stalked through the swamp under cover of night, moving from bush to bush in a hunched crawl that was a compromise between his need for stealth and his desire to keep his nose out of the fetid marsh water. The water in this area smelled particularly foul.

Borelean, prince of New Aluvia and leader of the Whispering Blade, turned back to view the tactical map which had caused such consternation of late. A map of the island of Dereth had been unrolled upon the table, depicting the land from the rain forests of the Vesayens to the cold Viamontian strongholds of Marae Lassel and the Halaetans, and from the tainted wildernesses

June, 2007: Evolution

Release Notes
There have been many strange things happening around Dereth lately and this month is no different. The Monougas have been showing up more and more lately, and those darn Drudges seem to be gathering with a purpose. What creatures could be next? We have also seen some changes that favor those learned in the skill of Alchemy. Those folks never cease to amaze us. Lets see what else is new and exciting this month in Dereth!

Evolution
Ardry felt like a fool. He was standing in his Uncle Aliesters workshop, dressed in a thick suit of padded cloth armor. His uncle circled around him, tightening straps and sealing him in tight. The suit was made up of multiple layers of thick cotton. Underneath he wore two full-body layers of silk, which his uncle had insisted upon

Adso crouched behind a boulder and watched the drudge scamper into the woods. In a small notebook, he noted the time of its passage and what he could observe of its equipment. Ever since the drudges had established their unusually organized assault on Cragstone, hed been scouting the area to see what was really going on.

May, 2007: Prodigal Sons

This month the strange actions from some of Dereth's better know creatures continues. What is causing them to act in this way? What else new and exciting is happening this month in the world of Asheron's Call?

Prodigal Sons
Asheron sat at his great white desk, staring into the flames of his candles. The desk was ancient, a relic of the Realaidain family. The white stone surface of the table had been well polished by use, its corners worn smooth from age, even when his father Lord Atlan had planned that fateful expedition to Daralet over 2500 years ago.

Ulgrim sat in the shade of the Smoking Axe Tavern of Ayan Baqur. He had a rapidly warming mug of stout by his side and a letter propped onto a writing tablet on his knees.

April, 2007: Strange Sightings

Once again there are some strange things happening in Dereth. Who is behind the recent string of disappearances? What do they have to do with each other? and what has become of those who have vanished? Find out what's new and exciting this month in Asheron's Call!

Strange Sightings
Ardry opened the front door of his Uncle Aliester's cottage. The smell of brewing tea greeted him as he stepped inside. Sighing in satisfaction, he grabbed a seat by his uncle's desk and set down a pack full of oddities and trinkets he'd acquired in his last scouting expedition.

Captain Tharnoch crouched over the shattered corpse of an undead sorcerer, picking through the skeletal remains for anything noteworthy or useful. It was night in Dereth, but moonlight provided enough illumination for an experienced guerilla like Tharnoch to make his way through this ancient and recently re-surfaced graveyard.

March, 2007: Ancient Enemies

Ancient Enemies
Ardry crouched in the cover of a stand of trees, watching the distant light of an abandoned campfire burn down to cinders. He'd been waiting since sundown for the ostensible occupant of this camp, a scholar from Zaikhal named Meshenq, to make an appearance.

Adso crested the hill and took a deep breath. The swirling winds at that elevation brought the scent of evergreen forests and crisp mountain air to his nostrils, carrying a hint of winter thaw and spring growth.

Rekindling the Light
Change had once more arrived in the settlement of Kor-Gursha, borne through the currents of portal space. As Tmauruk sauntered into his home village, he absorbed the new sights and sounds of these warriors, these 'Derethians'. Tmauruk enjoyed watching the new folk - he had always embraced change more readily than his fellows.

It had taken Tmauruk all of his skill to sneak as far as he had into the lair of the Fiazhat gods. While the dark ones were inattentive once the canny Ruuk had penetrated their outer perimeter, the sheer number of Falatacot, Sclavus, and even Guruk who roved the halls on various errands caused Tmauruk no account of trouble.

Bridging the Vast Divide
In the wooded mountain slopes of northern Osteth, not far from the mines of Baron Colier, Prince Borelean fought for his life. Alone in the wilderness, away from the older warrior who had escorted him into the forest, he had had been set upon by a pair of hulking, snake-headed Sclavus.

Ardry watched the steam waft off the bowl of hot, fragrant tea before him. He closed his eyes briefly and opened them back up, half-expecting to wake up in front of his lifestone with the taste of blood and dirt in his mouth. No such awakening occurred.
